A Vintage Journal

My latest vintage art journal has twenty four pages and lots of pockets, envelopes and tuck spots to put things into.  It also has spaces to journal.  I've made a quick video of it on U Tube and listed it on the Etsy shop.

Some pages that have been gessoed and then I did a watercolor on it.  Ok, one more .

 And a decorated paper clip, Yes there are such things,  and it all goes to a member of an art forum

in the UK. The envelope closes with the little swivel clip on the back.

New Creations and a Painting.

I've been painting AND making journals.   Despite the condition the world is in.  Creating is what keeps my head level AND happy.

Journal Jive on YouTube is coming along and I've done a few new creations some of which I'm posting here.  

The very tiny ones are decorated paper clips ( of all things)  

You haven't lived til you have a decorated paper clip. 

And the single card is just that.  

The long slender pieces below are attached and make a six panel screen. It folds to make a single panel. 

Using my much loved vintage ephemera it came together and I was pretty pleased about it .

My Art Blog

I'm not closing my blog just because someone has chosen to be a total moron and post anonymous garbage comments on my art blog.
It takes very little to fulfill some peoples lives and I guess that's what they are all about.

WIP

Starting  a new series? of paintings.  This is the first one, a WIP but almost finished.  
Watercolor , 18x24" .   

Although some issues with it, I'm plodding on and hope to resolve them.     I know what it is I don't like about my work, I try too hard, but don't know how to go any other way.   

P.S. I did some fix on it and have reposted the second pic.   Although I rarely do a painting more than once , I will do this one again.. I'm a glutton for punishment .                                                      

It's Here!

I've been without decent internet for over a week.. It goes in and out.   Very frustrating, but tried it just this morning ( again) and I have to type fast.   Hope everyone had a great weekend last week.
Summer has hit Florida with a vengeance  and it's already in the broiling stage and NO rain .. I don't think it ever got this hot this fast.  
I've been painting and working on some larger pieces.. Thank goodness for air con.

More Paintings

I've been doing some thinking lately, I know that can be dangerous, but sometimes it helps to make some decisions.. One of those is about what else, my paintings.. I've decided to list more of them, and send them to new homes.

More New Old Work

  Going through paintings that were tucked away I came across some that were done in the early '90's so decided to put them in the shop.  I actually discovered one from 1973 that I don't show here, but it does mean something to me.  Here are two of them.  

Moving Forward

Whenever I haven't painted for a while, I have to move slowly back into it, and that's what I did this morning.. From some photos I took when I went to Savannah,  really Tybee Island.  
They are small … 5x7's, but I was comfortable painting them. 

And BTW if you ever come to Florida this is the best time of the year. It couldn't be better than April/May.. Sunshine, no heat, no humidity. 

Beautiful blue skies, and everything is bloomin'.. 

OK, that's my work for the Chamber of Commerce.  LOL !!!  

A Few

I did make a video and explained about a couple of these journals.  One is the very first I made back in 2002, and another is the smallest I ever made . I think the vid is about nine minutes long. It went just fine from my camera to my computer.  But when I went to upload it here it said the file was too large.  OK.  And when I tried to put it on U Tube ,,, I started it at 8 p.m.. Wed. evening and the next morning Thursday it was still unloading.  WHAT? LOL!

Saying I know nothing about  doing this is an understatement . If I learn to cut the video shorter I may be able to do it that way. 

In the meantime I've found something I may paint.. We'll see how it goes.. Stay tuned. 

Makes Me Smile

After I made this color chart, I thought it made a good skirt for 

my art mannequin .  Oh yeah, I tried to upload a new video with several of my art journals and it wouldn't do what I wanted.

So it turned into a mannequin with a skirt. I'll try working on the vid again.. thanks for your patience.

Journal Jive Video !!

Posting the almost finished journal as a test . I don't think I've  posted a video on here before. Could be that I just forgot?  Testing it out as I'd like to do some tutorials on U-Tube on both my 
Watercolor and Journal Making.. For myself I make my journals with vintage ephemera because it's what I like.  I found lots of others do also.  The paper is coffee dyed,  looks old and (smells delicious)! It's an easy procedure.   
Hope you enjoy this .

Journaling

Jack of all trades, Master of none.  Working on journals because I love making them. I've made a short video, but these are just still photos as I'm not too sure about uploading to my blog.. BUT, I will try.  

I love vintage so this one was fun, fun, fun.  

And there are empty pages for journaling, or listing . 

I'm going to try to put the vid on... Lots a luck right?? 

At Last !

I've picked up a brush, and this was a major step today.. I did leave in my pencil marks, it was just a quick sketch.

Mrs. Wright

 I know I posted this a long while ago.  I lived in Lakeland, Fl. for a few years and would go to a restaurant there that had photos of the town back in the day.  

I saw this one and tracked it down so that I could get a copy.  I had it framed and hanging in my studio for a long time. 
Yes, that's "Mrs.  Frances Wright and her Art Students" 1888, Lakeland , Florida. 
I just love this photo, but which one is 'Mrs. Wright?'
