Watercolor Jenny

Had to paint my Jen, and I painted her in a much more realistic way.. But that's because she's all black and so many of these cats all look the same... I wanted to try to get her personality in here. 
Oh! did I say I love cats?  !!

Cats WIP

 I love cats...everything about them. This was my effort  for today, and I thought I'd put in step by step, as a wip.   ... However, you know how that goes sometimes. I did a light drawing and the first initial wash. 
After that my mind left me ,  LOL  ! and I got so engrossed that before I knew it I  was finished. 

Started out with a big brush, and wound up with a #12. And used just a few colors. 
However when I look at it I'm thinking " too much detail, too much piddlin' with the brush.".. I wish somebody would tie my hands half way through... 
This is for my Etsy shop online, and I've sold this  kind and  Tuxedo cats more than once. 

But next one I'm going to TRY to stop before it gets to this stage...Will let you know. oh, small 8x10 matted and 4 pigments.   Burnt sienna, brown madder alizarin, one of my yellows, new gamboge, and cobalt blue .

Lately I find myself not doing any serious painting.  I've been content with small sketches and drawings.   Feels right to me...

Sketches

 

 Been enjoying small sketches in my sketchbooks.  They're pretty quick and colorful.  I should be painting for my Etsy shop . I find that sales are better if I keep no less than fifty pieces in there.  So away I go......  

Color Your Life

This is part of a Rembrandt Pastel set that was given to me by my favorite Aunt. Probably back in the 70's. That's at least forty years ago. !  (I did the math) . She always encouraged me on my art journey.   Oh, I've done a few pastels in my time... not much anymore, but I've carried this set with me through at least twenty moves.  hmmm.. maybe more?
Even to California and back to Florida !  Doesn't matter if I don't use them right now. I just love looking at them..

Sketches

For the last year I've gotten into doing more sketches. 
So enjoyable . Here's a few from my sketchbook. 
 Only the first one is from Sunday's visit to the St. Marks Refuge.  The others are from my playtime. LOL ! 

I don't know why but I added that fence on the right side.

 Spent Sunday at St. Marks Refuge on the Gulf of Mexico.
Beautiful lighthouse and wildlife refuge.  

 

Pencil

Every once in a while I do a drawing and it still gets me going . I love doing pencil work, and often times wonder why I don't just stick to this one medium.

YES ! YES!

I've painted the tuxedo cat before and enjoy it every single time. It's for sale in my 
Etsy Shop as are many of my pieces. 
I painted just about every bit of this with my newest brush. Large and love it . 

Testing the Medium

  Must be 2 years that I've wanted to try torn paper collage. 
So, finally did  .. I've got the idea of it, but now need to work on my composition, and other elements of it. 
I chose this subject mostly because I've seen Derek Gores work and was inspired by it .. 
I'll try it again, with other subjects ..

The Flamingo

Happy to say "The Flamingo " has been accepted as part of an exhibit at the Tall Timbers Conservatory in Tallahassee Fl. 
This is a 16" x 20" watercolor .

 

New Work

While everyone is waiting on hurricane Mathew, I've been painting. It doesn't look like our area will be affected. 

These are some that will be put into my Etsy shop.  It's been doing pretty good. I've sold a good number of small works, and have no complaints.. There are over 50 paintings in there, and I find the more the better your chances are of selling.

Paintings of unknown people don't sell but put it in here anyway... ...

Country Day

Just a small and quick painting this morning.. I can't seem to get a serious piece going. But I'm happy that I'm swinging that brush.. LOL !

Lately I've been exploring stylized art.. It's interesting and I gave it a try here after seeing it on a video.  These are a couple of bookmarks that I made using that style ..

Extras !!!

Fun Stuff...  Whenever I sell through my Etsy shop I always include a bookmark.
By the same token , whenever I buy through Etsy I've received extras with my purchase.
  I don't know anywhere else that happens.  Does Amazon send you anything? Nope.
I'll take a small sheet of watercolor paper, and can do 8 or 10 at one time.. It's relaxing and
yeah, fun stuff.  

 
 Yes, this was fun stuff too. .  !!!

 I've been doing a lot of sketching lately, using a big brush . Also some pen and ink work without any color..

 
Oh yes, and some bad compositions too. ! lol 

The Hippie Chick 2

Hi All,  been attempting to paint.  My computer is not cooperating so hope this one came out on here. In person I feel the skin tones are a bit warmer.  Watercolor of course...16x20 .

Have just done a few sunflowers.. Been putting the paint to paper and it's coming back to me.. Starting to feel inspired and to do what I love to do the most..
