Your instincts were right on. Adding the female gives the male so much more expression and tells more a story than if he were there all alone. Its wonderful!
My card, my card! I have this image on my wall in my studio! I think mine is an original piece, isn't it BJ? A smaller version of a similar composition? (Ok, I admit that I can't always tell a print from a painting, especially a giclee of a watercolor. Plebe I am.) I love your cardinals, darlin'.
