While visiting friends in the Keys, I was sitting right under this coconut tree..
I took a picture of it from that angle, and when I painted it that's all I painted.. no tree, just the coconuts. Go ahead,.... walk on the wild side, sit under a coconut tree. !!
Barbra, I see you've added to the blog since I checked in last. Nice painting and fun when you live so dangerously!
ReplyDeleteI wanted you to know I got your nice comment and usually respond to them on my blog. I have lived in San Jose since 1976, so we would have been a mere 25 miles apart in your Fremont years. I agree, Northern California is very beautiful, even to a transplanted Vermonter!
Love this, Barbra! Very loose and fresh!
ReplyDeleteThanks to both of you, this is more of how I'd like to paint, but somehow I'm losing it.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you handled the fronds--just enough (I tend to overdo them!) and the light on the coconuts is perfect--I've noticed in coconut paintings I like, that's always the key!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your paintings. Hope you don't mind if I add you to my blog list?
ReplyDeleteHi Barbra Joan! I don't think I would have been as courageous as you to sit under the coconuts, but I love the shot and resulting painting. Doesn't look to me like you've lost anything, it looks great! Just keep on.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful painting. Actually, I love all your works. I'll be back to STUDY them.
