As I'm still on that hot pressed paper journey, and confess to following Julie Collins wonderful book. It's the way I learn, the only way I learned every single thing about painting... BOOKS !
Books and practice, you can read all the books you want but if you don't put it into practice then it will stay right in the book.
I know an artist (online) who grows fuchsia plants, so when I saw this it was a 'must do' . . BJ
This really is a technicolour joy. I love the strong shapes and subtle blending going on. nice one!
ReplyDeleteWow, really beautiful! It looks like a ballerina!
ReplyDeleteYes Judy, your right, that's what I've heard it called before..
ReplyDeleteBarbra, this is so most beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Very delicate looking. I've yet to try hot press. No clue what the difference would be. I actually love using 400 cold press. Great texture for some of the old junkers I paint, plus I don't have to tape it down. One less step! Yeah.
ReplyDeleteJerry, thank you . Maybe this convinces you that I am first a flower painter. It's what I love to paint..
ReplyDeleteSooz, HP is very smooth, the paint lays on top as opposed to Cp where it is absorbed into the paper.. BJ
If I didn't know better, I'd think you are gearing up for a show, my friend! Another lovely piece that shows your always delicate hand.
ReplyDeleteWanted to let you know I am back on Blogspot (can't remember if you've visited since I started anew over here). Just click my name on this comment to track down the new blog.
Barbra Joan, this is beautiful and shows your master touch. I love the way you positioned the flower on the paper and your display with the mannequin is charming.
ReplyDeleteI like hot press paper for doing people, something I learned in a Ted Nuttal workshop. I can see how it will be wonderful with your florals.
This is exquisite! Such beautiful colours and vibrancy! Love it Barbra and I'm so glad you are well again :0)
ReplyDeleteLovely BJ. hope you are feeling good now! love,Diana
ReplyDeleteWith the flying petals, it looks like a dancer! The colors are so very much in harmony, just as the flower itself Barbra!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning BJ. As you know I'm a big Fuchsia fan so this absolutely hits the spot for me. :)
ReplyDeleteSandra , Diana yes I'm feeling so much better every day.
ReplyDeletePadmaja, thank you , and John yes, I know you like Fuchsia and thanks for the correct spelling !!
Lovely painting Barbra Joan, I'm on a cold press wc paper journey. From 140 to 300lb. lots of fun. I do have some hot press, your fuchsia painting is truly well done.
ReplyDeleteI love art books too - but I think how one paints mostly comes from inside and you certainly have that too! These pantings are lovely!
