Today I lost the light of my life, my dog Angie.    I cannot say much more than it was the kinder, more humane thing I did for her because I loved her so very much.. For me it is a heartbreak , I can hardly breathe .. it is that much pain... I'm not a stranger to heartbreak..    I have lost a son, not his choice, an accident. . My daughter chooses to be away and that is her choice and her loss..

The tiniest palette I own is this little black enamel box that measures just 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches, and holds 12 colors that you put in yourself .. along with it I'll take my  water brushes . It came with me to the hospital.  Only on the last day that I was able to go home, I used it for a sketch ..   with some color...  BJ

Yes, there I've said it.. When I say I'm 'playing with paper'  it usually means that I'm making mini art journals.  I don't do scrapbooking, but one look at the hoarding of papers might make you think otherwise..   I wrote a Christmas letter to my Dad a few years ago and published it on my blog last year.. I had so many comments and emails from it.. some said it helped them to try and be a better father.    Less than 2 weeks ago I drew and posted  what I called "Eye of the Horse".  .In fact the real name was 'Kellys Eye.'  Her owner had taken the photo and posted it on a copyright free site for artists.   After seeing my drawing on that site yesterday, her owners who live in the UK, contacted me to say how much they liked the drawing but that sadly Kelly, their beautiful grey mare passed away

My art guild has asked that we exhibit some of our work at the Walden Lake Country Club for the Christmas Art Show.  Dec. 8.     I'm glad to do it and have made some choices ..  They aren't final yet, but I know I want to put in three watercolors and one drawing so I may change it.. I have a few small exhibits coming up .. Tonight is a 2 year anniversary celebration at my local gallery for which I've been asked to bring in a few paintings.. to hang. I may exchange some time in the gallery.                         Hibiscus are the flower in Florida, and I never tire of seeing them. Next Saturday Oct 1st. is the annual 'Art in the Park'  show.. Not a judged show and no prizes very small , but a chance to exhibit ...   Today was the day that I had to put paint to paper.. no doubts about that.. so I drew three circles, wet the entire paper , put some permanent rose in those places, and we know it looked like flowers to me.. so adding a little New Gamboge to the mix, and some Sap Green it turned into a bouquet.. I get many comments and questions when I post a drawing. I always say I can't paint when I'm  upset!  Well, I'm upset and came up with this in the past half hour!  I'm almost , almost happy with it! !   just lightly drew it out . (I believe it was from Wet Canvas..)  palette, Permanent Rose, Ultra Blue for the shadows and New Gamboge a little mix here/there  and lots of  water. These colors, this flower is good for what ails you !!!  (and me too) !
