Hot Press/Cold Press Paper

Although not good composition, the idea was to play with the paper. That I did .

A few weeks ago I'd gotten some hot pressed paper and have been wanting to try it (top)  .  Bottom is in my sketchbook, and the paper is just that ...paper.   I was bitten by this bug after reading Julie Collins book, Painting Flowers with Impact.. No body does it better!    BJ

  1. I love Iris! If you could see my Mother's garden you'd have enough flowers to paint for a life time. She breds iris... wierd. She has maybe 300 and all so unique. Beautiful watercolor. It's fun just to play and see what happens.

  2. Hi Barbra Joan, it looks lovely. Do you like HP?? I find it wilder with more back washes than CP. But I esp. like it for plein air. It gives a freedom to the painting. lovely sketchbook page... would make a great painting!!take care, love,Diana

  7. Hello there, just found your lovely blog. This piece caught my eye. It's exuberant colour and gorgeously free technique make it stunning. I love working on Hot Press, go for it. :)
